Bruce Arthur Rogers was born on the September 12th 1917 in Bootle, Lancashire, to Percy Charles Rogers and Olivia Jane Rogers. His father was in the army, and by 1919 the family had moved to 289 Ongar Road - possibly his father's work had moved to Warley Barracks.
He received his education at Brentwood School and later pursued Modern Languages at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford.
In February 1938, Rogers became a member of the University Air Squadron and was commissioned in the RAFVR, and in October 1939 he was called to full-time service. Consequently, he relinquished his RAFVR commission and was granted a permanent commission in the RAF on 7th October 1939.
Following his transition to full-time service, Rogers began training. He married Dora Maller, a Russian who had emigrated following the revolution, in Windsor on 11th May 1940.
After completing his training, Rogers joined 85 Squadron at Castle Camps on 15th September 1940. Later, on the 28th of the same month, he moved to 242 Squadron stationed at Coltishall.
During a squadron escort mission for Blenheims tasked with bombing the Chocques Chemical Works at Bethune on 17th June 1941, Rogers' Hurricane IIA Z2888 was shot dow by a Me109. He was killed in action at the age of 23. He is buried in Ambleteuse Communal Cemetery, France.
