Pte George Frederick Deadman
Born 19th July 1909
•Died 10th June 1945
Army Catering Corps, Middlesex Regiment
147 Crescent Road, Brentwood
George was the son of Charles Joseph and Mary Ann Deadman. By the time the second world war came around, his mother had died and his father was retired. George lived with his brother Charles at 147 Crescent Road, and they supported their father who lived with them.
George was drafted into the Middlesex Regiment and was lucky enough to join the catering corps, which will have kept him out of some of the action.
At the end of the war he was attached to 1st Bn. The Princess Louise's Kensington Regt. He died at a POW camp in Klagenfurt, Austria. Rather than being a prisoner there, he actually died one month after the war was over, so it seems like he was part of the occupying forces. He is buried in Klagenfurt War Cemetery, Austria.
