Arthur is remembered on the war memorial at St Thomas'. He had grown up in Tower Hill, Brentwood, but in 1915 he married and moved to 55 Arrol Road in Beckenham with his wife.
Arthur attested in December 1915, being put into the reserves and not mobilised until April 1916. He trained for three months and in July was posted to 182 Siege Battery, he went to France via Southampton in September.
He was in France for almost a year and a half, before he was admitted to a field hospital on 4th April 1918 with 'concussion'. He died due to this later the same day.
