Great Stampfords

Great Stampfords was an old farm house that stood south of Hart Street and was a large late medieval building. It had four gables and several large chimneys, one of which was a grand sculpted brick tudor design. There was a Stampford family living in Brentwood in the 16th century who could have been the original owners that the farm was named after.

By 1870 it had been divided into three cottages. It was demolished in about 1970 to make way for Chatham Way Car Park.
